How to Get Out of Jury Duty

Last week I was in Middlesex Superior Court for a jury trial.

Before a trial starts the judge asks the jury pool a series of questions in order to vet the potential jurors for any biases.

When one member of the jury pool was called for individual questions, she interrupted the judge and stated “I already know that I will side with the defendant; she has a good vibe about her.”

I don’t know if that woman was just trying to get off of jury duty or if she really believed she could determine negligence before hearing any evidence simply by looking at the defendant, but in any event she was excused.
