New Massachusetts Hands-Free Law Coming into Effect on February 23, 2020

A new law that was signed back in November goes into effect on February 23. The new law will ban any use of a hand-held device while driving – not just texting or scrolling, but also holding your phone to make calls or use GPS.

There is a grace period until the end of March where motorists stopped under the law will only be given a warning. However, after that you would receive a $100 fine for a first offense with subsequent offenses costing you additional fines, surcharges, and even driver training courses.
